This policy explains what the Earshots app does with information on your phone and from your earphones. The short version: the app has no accounts, no advertising and no tracking, and the only thing it can send to us is an earphone fault report, and only if you turn that on.
1. Your earphones
The app connects to your earphones over Bluetooth to show their status and let you change their settings. To reconnect automatically, it remembers the Bluetooth address of the last earphones you connected. That address is stored only on your phone and is never sent to us.
2. Earphone fault reports (optional)
If you turn on "Send earphone fault reports" (asked once when your earphones first connect, and changeable any time under About & privacy), the app sends us a technical report whenever your earphones record an internal fault. A report contains:
- the fault data recorded by the earphones (registers, stack and log written at the moment of the fault);
- the earphones' firmware version and which earphone (left or right) it came from;
- the product name;
- the app version, and whether the phone is Android or iOS and its operating-system version;
- the date and time of the report.
A report does not contain audio, contacts, location, your name, an account, serial numbers, Bluetooth addresses, your phone's make or model, or anything else that identifies you or your earphones. We use these reports only to find and fix firmware faults.
Reports are processed for us by Functional Software, Inc. ("Sentry"), an error-reporting service, and stored on its servers in the United States. They are deleted after 90 days. If you turn the setting off, nothing further is sent; reports already sent are deleted at the end of that period. The app also reports its own crashes to Sentry under the same setting, with the same restrictions.
3. Firmware updates
When your earphones connect, the app checks our firmware server for a newer version and, if you choose to install one, downloads it. Like any internet request, this shows the server your phone's internet address; we do not store it or use it for any other purpose.
4. What we do not do
The app does not collect analytics, does not use advertising, does not track you across apps or websites, and does not sell or share information about you.
5. Children
The app is not directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone.
6. Changes
If we change what the app collects, we will update this policy in the app and, where it affects fault reports, ask for your permission again.
